Southeast Valley High School Report – Kerry Ketcham, Principal

Congratulations to Grace Bloomquist, Brooklyn Cockerham and Creighton Urban for being chosen for NCIBA Honor band in Mason City in January. They will perform with some of the top high school instrumentalists in North Central Iowa. Congratulations to Coach Travis Nuss for being named the Twin Lakes Conference Boys Cross Country Coach of the Year! Special “Thank You” to Josh Dyer and Devan Walker-Brooks for leading the student council to prepare and deliver a really nice Veterans’ Day program. Also, thanks to Alan Beving for the preparation and performance of the choir at the Veterans’ Day ceremony and later that evening at the first vocal concert of the year. Of course, the biggest jubilation is the football team making it to the championship game in the UNIDome! Trimester 2 begins on Wednesday, November 17. It’s hard to believe we are there already. I share these numbers because it can be too easy to focus on the negatives. There are so many good things happening and we should never take that for

granted. Early graduation I have 3 students who either finished at the end of the first trimester or the end of the semester at Iowa Central that I’m recommending for early graduation.

Southeast Valley Middle School Report – Greg Slininger, Principal

Basketball practices have started for both boys and girls, with games starting on Tuesday and Thursday this week. Mock trial also gets to compete this week on Tuesday the 16th. Prowl time interventions are going at this point. We have been updating and fine tuning our fire/evacuation and severe weather drill procedures at the middle school. The middle school has consistently been meeting in PLC teams weekly. We have been concentrating on “I can” statements and intentional planning, with team members beginning to bring individual units into the group for discussion.
