Boys Basketball the Week of January 17th
The Southeast Valley Boys' basketball program wrapped up their 7th and 8th straight road game during the week of January 17th. They traveled the short trip to Manson on Tuesday, January 18th and then traveled up north to Newell on Friday, January 21st. SV defeated MNW by the score of 62-40, and fell to Newell-Fonday by the score of 51-67. The Varsity record now sits at 8-6 on the season, and the team is looking forward to returning home in basketball action next week.
In the first game of the week versus MNW, the Jaguars put together a solid 2nd half to outlast the Cougars in the 62-40 victory, with SV outsourcing their opponent 37-21 in the closing half of the ball game. Three total Jaguars reached double-figures in scoring, led by Aaron Graves with 23, Kolson Kruse with 17, and Tre Fisher with 12. Graves added 8 rebounds and 2 steals, Kruse added 5 rebounds and 3 steals, and Fisher added 4 assists and 4 steals in one of his best showings of the season. Drew Corell chipped in with a pretty solid stat line as well, scoring 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals. Carter Ferry rounded out the Jaguar scoring with 2 points and 1 steal in the game. Kaleb Scott recorded 5 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Justin Loseke added 2 rebounds and 1 assist. Andrew Miller and Nate Scott each secured 1 rebound apiece, and Carl Berglund had one rebound and one steal in the road victory.

In the Friday match-up with Newell-Fonda, Southeast Valley faced full-court press all four quarters and committed a total of 18 turnovers in the duration of the game. After trailing by just three points with a score of 9-12 at the conclusion of the 1st quarter, and keeping it close late in the 2nd quarter, foul trouble by three different SV big men made it possible for N-F to close out the 1st half with a 28-19 lead. In the second half, SV put together a solid 4th quarter as they matched N-F in scoring with 18 points each, but SV was outscored 39-32 in the half.
Aaron Graves earned himself a double-double on the night, scoring 23 points and securing 10 rebounds, while also dishing out 2 assists and blocking one Mustang field-goal attempt. Kolson Kruse chipped in with 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists. Justin Loseke added 5 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists. Kaleb Scott finished with 4 points, 4 blocked shots, and 2 offensive rebounds. Tre Fisher tallied 2 points, 3 offensive rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists in the game. Carter Ferry rounded out the Jaguars scoring with 2 points and one assist. Drew Corell collected 2 rebounds for his efforts. Carl Berglund, Andrew Miller, and Nate Scott all played in the game as well.
