Jag Boys Victorious Over East Sac County

Southeast Valley welcomed the Raiders from East Sac County to Gowrie and out onto SV's home floor on Friday, February 4th in the second matchup between the two teams this season. Southeast Valley led as much as by 21 points in the 3rd quarter before letting frustrations build over and take away from game play. In the end, SV held on to win by the score of 59-55, thanks to successful free throw shooting by Tre Fisher and Eli Johnson going 5-6 from the charity stripe under the final minute of the ball game.  


SV led by seven points at the halfway point in the game, leading 29-22. At the start of the 3rd quarter, SV went on a 10-0 and jumped out to a 39-22 lead in the first three minutes of the second half. In the next possession of the ball game, SV increased their lead to the largest scoring differential of the ball game as they led 43-22. A total of two technical fouls were then called on SV in a six minute time span and East Sac was rewarded with a total of 8 free throws (both T's came after shooting fouls called) and the ball; and East Sac took advantage of the opportunities and SV's frustrations. East Sac County then cut the Jaguar lead to just three points with two minutes remaining in the game with a score of 53-50. The Jaguars then led 55-50 before East Sac knocked down a 3-point basket to cut it to just a one possession ball game at 55-53. With the Raiders now in steal the ball or foul mode, and double-teaming Kolson Kruse in an attempt to prevent him from receiving the ball, Eli Johnson and Tre Fisher were fouled in late game situations and were successful in high-pressure moments, combining to shoot 5-6 from the free throw line to secure SV's victory. SV outscored East Sac in all of the first three quarters before being outscored 12-20 by East Sac in the final quarter of play.  


Tre Fisher and Aaron Graves both scored 14 points to lead the Jaguars in scoring, with Fisher earning a team-high with 5 steals and Graves adding 9 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists, and 1 blocked shot. Kruse chipped in with 12 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 steals. Kaleb Scott scored 8 points with a slam dunk coming in the first half, while also knocking down a 3 point basket and one blocked shot. Eli Johnson scored 6 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists. Drew Corell scored 3 points and Justin Loseke rounded out the Jaguar scoring with 2 points and provided solid defense on East Sac's leading scorer all game long. The Varsity record is now 9-10 on the season, with two regular-season games remaining.
