JV Boys at MNW 1/18

The Southeast Valley Junior Varsity Boys' basketball team picked up their tenth win of the season after holding on to secure a eight point victory over Manson-NW Webster by the score of 35-27 in Manson on Tuesday, January 18th.

Closing out games and not letting teams back into the game has been troublesome for the JV squad in recent weeks. The Jaguars jumped out to an early 11 point advantage after the first break, leading 15-4 after one quarter of play. By halftime, the Jaguars increased their lead to 17 points, with the score of 24-7. The first half differential in scoring was mostly due in part to solid defensive effort and appropriate rotations in the full-court press that led to some extra possessions and some easy buckets in transition. In the 3rd quarter, with SV leading 28-11, the Jaguars allowed the Cougars to close out the third quarter on a 11-2 run, cutting the 17 point SV advantage to just 8 points with just six minutes remaining in the game. In the final quarter, both teams scored only 5 points, resulting in the 35-27 final score.

Carter Ferry led both teams in scoring with 15 his points. Andrew Miller scored all of his 9 points in the first half, and grabbed 4 rebounds and earned 3 steals in the game. Ross Larson added 4 points, and Tyler Paterson added 3 points with 4 offensive rebounds and 2 steals. Both Nate Scott and Tyler Moreland scored 2 points each to round out the Jaguar offensive scoring. Scott also recorded two blocked shots on the defensive end of the floor. Dalton Crouse earned 3 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Brady Hanson, Jace Hanson, and Drake Warland all contributed in the game.

End of Quarter Scores: SV led 15-4, SV 24-7, SV 30-22.
