JV Boys Basketball Complete Special Undefeated Season 20-0

The Southeast Valley Junior Varsity Boys Basketball Team capped off a special undefeated season, remaining perfect and finishing with a 20-0 record after earning a 76-54 road victory in Clarion on Thursday night, February 13th.

The young relentless group made sure to capture the momentum late in the 2nd quarter and take it with them into the 2nd half if they wanted to reach their goal of a perfect season. With the slightest of leads with under a minute remaining in the 1st half, the Jaguars closed out the last :47 of the half on a 9-0 run. The Jaguars earned the win on the road with a rejuvenating 3rd quarter, where the Jaguars outscored Clarion-Goldfield-Dows 27-13 in the period. The momentum swing and change-up of strategy defensively (SV allowed 7 total 3pt made baskets, 4 by one individual player in the 1st half), the JV squad executed to a 'T' and forced back-to-back-to-back turnovers to open up the 3rd quarter. The Jaguars led 42-27 in a blink of an eye. The Cowboy player with four made 3 pointers and 12 points at the halftime intermission did not score again in the game. The Jaguars continued to showcase great teamwork, heart, and unselfishness as they have all season in the win.

Nick Field continued his incredible season scoring a game high 18 points, making his final 7 baskets after starting 2 for 6 from the field (no pun intended). Ian Brunner had a solid game as well, scoring 14 points on 6 for 9 shooting with 6 rebounds and 2 assists. Bryce Harrison continued to stuff the stat sheet as he scored 14 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 3 steals. Harrison scored 12 of his 14 points in the 2nd half. Cornell Lowery scored 11 points and led the team in rebounding with 8 boards off the glass (5 offensive rebounds), while also dishing out 5 assists. Lowery received high-praise from an official after the game, recognizing his positive leadership and communication on the floor. Hayden Butrick scored all of his 7 points in the 2nd half and had 2 assists on the night. Karson Roper chipped in with 5 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals, and had one blocked shot. Declan McGuire connected on a three point basket to score three points. Lincoln Akins and Hayden Greene rounded out the Jaguar scoring with 2 points each. Akins added 2 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals, and Greene added 3 rebounds. Ethan Tucker contributed with one rebound and one steal in the game.

End of Quarter Scores: SV led 21-17 (were down 1-7, if not 1-8), 36-27, 63-40, and 76-54.

Members of the JV team during this special season include the following: Cornell Lowery, Ethan Tucker, Lincoln Akins, Karson Roper, Spencer Peterson, Declan McGuire, Bryce Harrison, Kolton Ollinger, Nick Field, Hayden Butrick, Ian Brunner, and Hayden Greene. And a special thank you to our tremendous Student-Manager in Caleb Shirbroun.
