JV Boys Basketball @ Emmetsburg
Emmetsburg-- The JV Boys earned a gritty 56-46 road victory over Emmetsburg on Friday, December 12th.
The Jaguars opened the game with cold shooting from the floor and trailed 2-8 after the first quarter of play. With a reset and focus on more ball movement and spacing, the intensity in the 2nd quarter picked up on both ends of the floor. Jacob Patterson and Conner Rentz helped ignite a 23-8 run in the 2nd quarter and the Jaguars held a 25-16 advantage at the half-time break.
The 2nd half was a back and forth contest, with the Jaguars outscoring the E-Hawks 31-30 in the half. The E-Hawks were able to cut the Jaguar lead to just a few possessions late in the last couple minutes of the ball game. In the end, the Jaguars grinded out the win with key free throws made and opportune defensive rebounding to help the Jaguars earn the 10 point win.
Dawson Tuel made 5 of his last 5 free throws late in the game to help seal the victory, and the duo of Rentz and Caden Cramer came up with 6 steals late in the 2nd half.
Scoring for the Jaguars were Rentz with 16 points, 5 rebounds, 6 steals, and one blocked shot. Jacob Patterson with 9 points and 8 rebounds. Cramer with 9 points, 10 rebounds, 3 steals, and one blocked shot. Tuel with 7 points (5-8 from the charity stripe), 3 assists, and 2 steals. Colby Peterson with 6 points on 2-3 shooting from deep. Carver Peterson with 3 points and one assist. Declan McGuire, Spencer Peterson, and Landon Vote rounded out the Jaguar scoring with 2 points each.
