JV Boys Basketball Home vs. Mardrid 11.28.23
The JV Boys opened up their 2023-2024 basketball season on their home court on Tuesday, November 28th; defeating the Madrid Tigers by the score of 71-12.
Leading the team in scoring was Freshman Ian Brunner with 19 points and 9 rebounds. Cornell Lowery and Bryce Harrison also joined Brunner in the double-digit scoring column, scoring 13 and 12 points respectively. Harrison also contributed with 5 steals and Lowery had 4 steals in the game. Lincoln Akins scored 9 points and had 5 steals. Karson Roper played a solid all-around game, contributing with 7 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists, and 7 steals, with only one turnover as one of the main floor generals on the night. Spencer Peterson pitched in with 6 points, shooting 3-3 from the field, while also adding 4 well-timed assists and 3 steals. Ethan Tucker rounded out the Jaguar scoring with 5 points and 3 assists. Preston Kennedy and Gauge Jones both recorded one steal in the contest.
As a team, the Jaguars totaled 29 steals on the defensive end of the floor, and only 8 turnovers offensively. Solid ball pressure in the man-to-man defense and the help-side defensive responsibilities accounted for at a pretty good rate helped the young Jaguars secure and earn nearly 30 steals on the night.
