JV Boys @ Emmetsburg 12/8/23
The JV Boys' Basketball team travelled up north to Emmetsburg on Friday, December 8th, to take on the E-Hawks of Emmetsburg High School. The game was another close contest on the road, where the Jaguars used a strong 4th quarter to cut the Emmetsburg lead to just two points in the final minute of the ball game. The E-Hawks led as much as nine points starting the 4th quarter, and again held a 9 point advantage with just 3 minutes remaining in the game. The young Jaguars closed out the final three minutes with a 9-4 run to give them a fighting chance. The Jaguars kept the fight alive, but unfortunately fell by the score of 53-57 in another close ball game on the road.
Ian Brunner led the way in scoring on the night for both teams with 23 points and 5 rebounds in just 3 quarters of action. Bryce Harrison also reached double-figures in scoring with 10 points and 8 rebounds. Spencer Peterson scored 5 points in the second half, knocking down a huge 3 pointer in the corner to get the score to 53-55 under a minute. Peterson also added 6 steals, 4 assists, and 2 blocked shots on the night. Tyler Jondle chipped in with 4 points and a team high 6 assists. Karson Roper also scored 4 points, and had 3 assists and 3 steals. Both Jondle and Roper battled through foul trouble most of the night. The trio of Preston Kennedy, Conrell Lowery, and Nick Field all scored 2 points. Field also earned 2 steals for his efforts. Lincoln Akins rounded out the Jaguar scoring with 1 point, 2 assists, and 1 blocked shot. Also playing in the game was Ethan Tucker with one rebound collected.
