JV Boys let one slip away in 2nd Half, Fall 45-48
The JV Boys travelled to Fort Dodge on Tuesday, December 5th, to take on the St. Edmond Gaels in a full 32 minute ballgame.
The Jaguars held an early lead starting off the game, leading 8-2 in the first four minutes of the ball game. In fact, there were several times throughout the contest where the young Jaguars led as much as six points, but no more than that. After leading 28-24 at half, again the Jaguars increased a lead back up to six points mid-way through the 3rd quarter, up 32-26. But soon after, the St. Edmonds Gaels connected on three 3pt baskets in a time span of just 6 minutes of game clock and the Jaguars now trailed by six, 37-43 with 5 minutes remaining. Each team's largest deficit and lead in the game was just 6 points, only 2-3 possessions out of contention. The Jaguars had their opportunities to claw their way back after giving up the lead they controlled for nearly 3/4 of the ball game, but just couldn't get over that hump. Tyler Jondle had an open look and three at the buzzer to send it to overtime, but just fell short. The Jaguars lost a tough one on the road, falling 45-48.
Ian Brunner paced the Jaguars in scoring with 13 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 blocked shot attempts offered by the Gael offensive firepower. Karson Roper chipped in with 9 points, 6 steals, and 4 rebounds. Tyler Jondle added 5 points, 5 assists, and 3 steals. Bryce Harrison also added 5 points and 3 steals in the game. Ethan Tucker added 4 points and 2 steals, and Cornell Lowery added 3 points. Lincoln Akins, Spencer Peterson (4 steals), and Nick Field (5 rebounds) rounded out the Jaguar scoring with 2 points each.
End of Quarter Scores: SV led 12-9, 28-24, Tied 36-36, St. Ed's 48-45.
