JV Boys Open Up the New Year On the Road

The JV Boys opened up the 2024 New Year with a road defeat on January 2, 2024, falling by the final score of 44-57. The game was played in Jewell against the South Hamilton Hawks.  


The Jaguars jumped out to a 14-8 lead in the first 6:00 of the game, but allowed a 8-0 run in the final two minutes of the opening quarter and trailed 14-16 after a South Hamilton 3pt basket beat the 1st quarter buzzer. The Jaguars hung tough in the 2nd and 3rd quarters but trailed by seven going into the final quarter of play. In the end, the Jaguars were outscored in all four quarters of the game, falling by the score 44-57.


The Jaguars shot a total of 29% from the field, and only 16% from 3pt land. The Jaguars did not get to the free throw line much in the game, only earning one trip to the charity stripe, going 0-2 from the free throw line. The Jaguars faced physical play throughout the game.  


Bryce Harrison and Ian Brunner paced the Jaguars in scoring on the night, each scoring 10 points. Harrison was 2-4 from 3pt range and Brunner led the team in rebounding with 6 caroms off the glass in his two quarters of play. Tyler Jondle had a solid night offensively, scoring 7 points on 3-6 shooting with 3 assists, 2 steals, and zero turnovers.  Nick Field added 6 points and 4 rebounds. Lincoln Akins chipped in with 5 points, 2 rebounds, and 1 steal. Karson Roper had 4 points in the paint and had 3 rebounds and 2 steals on the night. Hayden Greene rounded out the Jaguar scoring with 2 points and 2 rebounds. Spencer Peterson earned 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocked shots. Cornell Lowery (2 steals), Ethan Tucker (3 rebounds), Hayden Butrick (2 rebounds), Gauge Jones (3 assists and 3 steals), and Preston Kennedy (an offensive rebound) also played in the game.  


End of Quarter Scores: SV 14, SH 16; SV 24, SH 29; SV 33, SH 40; SV 44, SH 57. The JV record is now 4-5.
