JV Boys Take Care of Glidden-Ralston

On Thursday, January 6th, the Southeast Valley Junior Varsity Boys' basketball team played in a road contest versus Glidden-Ralston, winning by the score of 52-38.

SV led by 11 points at the halftime break, and led as much as 30-16 halfway through the 3rd quarter. The solid full-court pressure that the Jaguars carried out much of the 1st half helped record a total of 20 steals in the game for the young Jaguars. The defensive effort, however, was hampered by the Jaguar offense in the opening of the second half. The offense struggled in the 3rd quarter, as they could only score 7 points in the period, scoring 4 points in the final two minutes. Glidden-Ralston was able to cut the Jaguar lead to just a six point difference, as the Jaguars held on to a 40-34 lead with 3 minutes remaining in the contest. The Jaguars then took advantage of free-throw opportunities in the final period as Glidden-Ralston started to apply more aggressive pressure defense to retain possession of the basketball.

Carter Ferry paced the Jaguars in scoring as he scored 15 points, 5 steals, and 3 rebounds in the game. Ross Larson added 8 points, shooting 2-2 from 3-point range. Dalton Crouse also scored 8 points, while also collecting 4 rebounds and a couple of steals. Jace Hanson added 6 points, and Hane Sorenson added 5 points. Tyler Paterson scored 3 points on 3/5 shooting from the free-throw line. Tyler Moreland chipped in with 3 points and a team-high 5 rebounds in the game. Drake Warland and Andrew Miller rounded out the Jaguar scoring, each scoring 2 points. Warland also had 3 steals on the night. Brady Hanson collected 4 rebounds and Ethan Ackerson secured 2 rebounds and 1 steal.

End of Quarter Scores: SV led 13-6, 27-16, 34-26.
