JV Boys Victorious Over East Sac County

The Southeast Valley Junior Varsity Boys' basketball team returned to the hardwood after a 10 day gap since their last game, earning a 47-35 victory over the East Sac County Raiders on Friday, February 4th.  


The Jaguars jumped out to an early seven-point advantage with two minutes to go in the opening period before the Raiders finished off the quarter on 4-1 run where SV led 13-9 at the conclusion of the 1st quarter. At the half-time break, with both teams scoring 9 points apiece, the score read 22-18 in SV's favor. The Raiders started the 3rd quarter on a 6-2 run, tying the game at 24-24 all, with just 2 minutes into the 2nd half. SV then responded with a 5-0 run of their own two minute span to lead 29-24 with just under three minutes remaining in the 3rd quarter. Leading 33-28 with the time running out on the clock late in the 3rd, Carter Ferry knocked down an open three pointer in the corner to expand SV's lead to 36-28 at the end of the first three quarters. In the fourth quarter, the Jags led by as much as 15 points and closed out the game outscoring the Raiders 14-7 in the final period.  


A total of 8 different Jaguar players scored in the game, led by Carl Berglund with his 10 points (5-8 FG) and three steals. Carter Ferry scored 9 points and dished out 3 assists in just three quarters of play. Tyler Paterson scored 6 points and secured a team high 5 rebounds in the game. Dalton Crouse also matched Paterson in scoring with 6 points scored, while also securing 4 rebounds and having 3 steals in the contest. Nate Scott chipped in with 5 points and 2 rebounds. The duo of Ross Larson and Tyler Moreland both scored 4 points coming off the bench. Jace Hanson rounded out the scoring effort with 3 points scored. Hane Sorenson (1 steal), Drake Warland (1 offensive rebound and 1 assist) and Brady Hanson (1 rebound and 1 steal) also played in the game. The JV record is now 14-3 on the season with just two games remaining.
