JV Boys vs Emmetsburg & East Sac

The Southeast Valley Junior Varsity Boys' basketball squad opened up the week of December 20th with two road tests in back-to-back nights; first meeting up with the Emmetsburg E-Hawks on Monday, and the next night versus the Raiders of East Sac County. The games resulted in two road victories for the JV team, defeating Emmetsburg 36-29 and defeating East Sac 48-32. The JV now enters the Holiday Break with a 6-1 record on the early 'half' of the basketball season.  


In the Emmetsburg match-up, the Jaguars were led offensively by Sophomore Andrew Miller with his new-season high in points scored with 20 points on 5-9 FG shooting and 10-10 from the free-throw line. Miller needed just one more rebound to earn himself a double-double on the night, as he collected 9 rebounds on the defensive end of the gloor. Carter Ferry scored 5 points and earned 3 steals on the night.  Tyler Paterson went 3-4 from the charity stripe to score 3 points while collecting a single rebound and steal apiece. A trio made up of Dalton Crouse, Brady Hanson, and Nate Scott each scored 2 points. Scott, in just two quarters of action, recorded 4 rebounds total and 1 blocked shot. Ross Larson and Jace Hanson rounded out the Jaguars scoring column with 1 point each. J. Hanson was second in rebounding on the night with 5 boards gathered, four coming from the offensive end of the floor. As a unit, the Jaguars were on fire from the FT-line, shooting 17-19 from the foul line.


End of Quarter Scores: SV led 5-4, 16-8, and 25-15. Won 36-29.


On Tuesday night, in the 48-32 victory over East Sac, the Jaguars used a solid 1st half to jump out to an early 14 point lead at the half-time break, leading 30-16. The Jaguars scored 17 points in the second quarter, with Carter Ferry scoring 9 of his 14 points in that period. Ferry made six of his seven shot attempts, while also earning 6 steals and 3 assists. Nate Scott followed Ferry in shooting the ball well, as Scott scored 10 points going 5-6 from the field. Scott also led the team in rebounding with 4 rebounds on the night. Ross Larson had one of his best games thus far, as he provided solid energy off the bench, scoring 6 points, 3 assists, and 2 steals. Andrew Miller chipped in with 5 points and 2 assists.  Jace Hanson contributed with 4 points in the game. Tyler Moreland, Dalton Crouse, Brady Hanson, and Hane Sorenson all scored 3 points each. Gavin Weier earned 2 rebounds in the game.  For the game, Southeast Valley took care of the basketball as they only recorded 5 turnovers in the contest versus East Sac. The night before they had committed 14 turnovers. The Jags also shared the ball well in this game, as they had a total of 17 assists on the night compared to just 8 assists the night prior.
