JV Boys vs. Manson 12/12/23
The JV Boys' had yet another exciting, close ball game on their hands on Tuesday, December 12th; the second game in back-to-back nights on the hardwood. On this night, the Jaguars hosted the Cougars from Manson-Northwest Webster and fell by the score of 52-58.
The game was full of ups and downs, and scoring runs and scoring lapses from both teams. Both teams made great plays throughout the contest, and on both ends of the floor. The game started off at a fast speed, where each team put up about 20 points in a single quarter of action in the first half. But a slower start in the 2nd half, and only scoring 6 points in the 3rd quarter, halted the pace and allowed the Cougars to increase a 3 point lead at half to 9 points entering the 4th and final quarter. The Jaguars were able to cut the nine point MNW advantage to a one possession ball game at 51-54 with 57.4 seconds remaining in the game. Unfortunately for the Jaguars, MNW closed out the quarter perfectly from the free throw line, 5-5 in the final minutes of the game to secure the 6 point victory.
Ian Brunner led the way in scoring for the Jaguars with 12 points and 5 boards. Bryce Harrison connected on two three pointers in the first half, and finished with 10 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 steal. Tyler Jondle chipped in with 7 points and 4 steals. Spencer Peterson added 6 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals. Karson Roper scored 5 points, and played a very good game defensively, earning 5 steals defending Manson's best ball handler and scorer. Lincoln Akins and Cornell Lowery each scored 4 points, with Akins also earning 2 steals in the game. Ethan Tucker rounded out the Jaguar scoring with 2 points and 2 rebounds.
End of Quarter Scores: SV led 19-15, MNW led 36-33, 48-39, 58-52.
