JV Boys vs. SCC 1/31

The Southeast Valley JV Boys' basketball team bounced back after two consecutive road losses and defeated our neighbors to the west in the South Central Calhoun Titans by the score of 58-23. The home victory improves the JV record to 12-5 on the year with two games remaining. The JV squad closed out their home schedule for the year, winning 9 of their 10 home court opportunities (finishing perfect in the main competition gymnasium).  


Southeast Valley used a solid first quarter of play to jump out to a quick double-figure lead in the first three minutes of the ball game, up 16-6 in that time span. By the end of the first quarter, SV closed out the period on an 11-0 run and led 27-6 at the quarter break. Southeast Valley closed out the game by winning the three remaining quarters to secure their twelfth win of the season.  


Ross Larson continued his hot scoring streak, posting another game high, this time with 13 points on 5-8 shooting and 3-6 from 3pt territory. Jace Hanson was welcomed back to the line-up and contributed instantly in the 1st quarter where he scored 8 of his 11 total points. J. Hanson also earned two steals in the game, both coming in the 1st quarter in the full-court pressure defense.  For the game, J. Hanson also led the team in rebounding with 7 total collected. Carter Ferry scored 9 points, 8 of which were scored in the 2nd quarter of play. Brady Hanson and Cale VanSickle both scored 5 points and both matched each other in rebounding with 4 caroms off the glass. B. Hanson also had 4 steals in the game. Preston Kennedy chipped in with 4 points and 2 rebounds. Tyler Moreland scored 2 points and had 2 rebounds, while also earning 2 steals. Lincoln Akins was successful behind the 3pt line, scoring 3 points and had one steal. Brad Pliner and Nick Field both scored 2 points to round out the Jaguar scoring. Pliner also added 3 assists. Hane Sorenson did not score, but he did do a great job facilitating the offense and setting up his teammates to score. Sorenson had a season-high 12 assists, and finished with 3 rebounds and 2 steals.
