JV Boys vs. Sioux Central @ Sioux Rapids
The Southeast Valley JV Boys' basketball team headed up northwest to Sioux Rapids on Friday, January 13th and defeated Sioux Central by the score of 40-23. This was the first time in many years playing Sioux Central at the JV level.
After trailing by two points at the end of the 1st quarter, down 10-12, Southeast Valley shut down their opponent in the middle two quarters of the ball game with full court pressure. The Rebels did not score a single point in the 2nd quarter, and only scored 4 points in the third quarter. In a 12 minute time span, the Jaguars put together a 25-4 run to increase their lead to 19 with a score of 35-16 going into the final quarter of the game.
Cale VanSickle paced the Jaguars in scoring with 13 points on 6 for 8 shooting from the field. Ross Larson knocked down 11 points, connecting on 3 of his 4 attempts from 3pt land. Larson also added 3 steals in the full court press. Tyler Moreland added 5 points and 3 offensive rebounds. The duo of Carter Ferry and Preston Kennedy contributed 4 points and 2 steals a piece. Brady Hanson rounded out the Jaguar scoring with 3 points and 4 assists. Hane Sorenson tallied 3 assists and Nick Field collected 4 offensive rebounds in his two quarters of JV ball. Brad Pliner finished with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals for his efforts on the floor. Lincoln Akins earned 1 steal and Jace Hanson added an assist and 1 rebound.
