SV Boys Win 1st Conference Game of the Season
The Southeast Valley Boys' Varsity team improved to 2-0 on the early season with a 76-44 triumph over West Bend-Mallard on Friday, December 3rd.
The Jaguars jumped out to an early double-digit lead in the first 4 minutes of the 1st quarter, led by Senior power-forward Aaron Graves with 11 points in the opening period. It was a superlative performance in the paint for Graves, as he finished the game with 32 points on 14-17 from the field, while also securing a team-high 7 rebounds. Aaron Graves now needs just 28 points to reach over 1,000 points scored in his High School career.
Senior guard Kolson Kruse also reached the 30-point threshold, scoring 30 points (10-11 from the charity stripe) and tallying 4 steals, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists.
Junior Justin Loseke chipped in with 5 points and 4 rebounds, whereas fellow classmate Eli Johnson contributed 4 points, 4 assists, and tied Graves with a team-high 7 rebounds. Sophomore Carter Ferry knocked down a successful 3-pointer to add 3 points and 1 steal, and Junior Drew Corell rounded out the scoring with 2 points and 2 rebounds. Carl Berglund provided 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals as he plays the role of the 6th man off the bench.
Sophomores Tyler Moreland, Andrew Miller, and Dalton Crouse all gained valuable experience at the Varsity level in this contest, particularly vital this early in the season. Miller had 1 blocked shot, and Moreland secured 2 defensive rebounds and 1 steal. Crouse added 1 assist and 1 steal in the game.
