SV CC @ Greene County Invitational

On Thursday, September 11th, the Southeast Valley cross country teams traveled to Spring Lake in Greene County to compete in the Greene County Invitational Cross Country meet. The Jaguars not only battling their competition also overcame warmer than normal conditions, but when the night was over, the Jaguars left with four medalists, 18 season best times and 13 career times.

              Needing to be in the top 20 finishers to earn medalist honors, Katie Field was 14th in the girls field with a season best time of 24:58 while Lincoln Akins, August Akins and Owen Nuss all found top 20 finishes in the boys race. Lincoln and August’s career times of 18:17 and 19:12 earned them 9th and 15th respectively. Owen was able to hang on to 18th place with a time of 19:12.

              The three medalists helped lead the Jaguar boys to a 4th place finish with 89 points. Class 2A, #20 ranked Ogden won the meet with 68 points followed by Greene County with 75 points. Class 3A Denison Schleswig was third with 79 points. The girls only had four runners on Thursday and did not record a team score. Roland Story won the girls with an impressive 23 points followed by Denison Schleswig and Panorama with 49 and 65 points respectively.

              Joining Lincoln, August and Owen in the scoring for Southeast Valley was Drew Dorsey and Carver Peterson, both who also ran career PRs. Drew’s 19:48 was 22nd and Carver’s 20:04 was 25th. Ethan Tucker was 27th with a season best 20:13 and Jackson Bintz finished 34th with a time of 20:50.

              Logan Bintz (44th, 21:42), Carter Ganoe (73rd, 25:16) an Oliver Riehl (61st, 23:23) all finished with their best 5k times of the year. Having career best races on Thursday for the boys were Kasen Loeffler (35th, 21:00), Blaise Echevarria (47th, 22:12), Carter Lloyd (74th, 25:26), Evan Kuhn (76th, 25:48), Jacob Wicklein (78th, 26:31), Max Judson (83rd, 27:25), Logan Urelius (85th, 29:01) and Mason Newell (87th, 30:06).

              Joining Katie Field in the girls race for the Jaguars were Ruby Stimpson in 24th in 27:00. Charlie Dorsey set her career best time in 27:05 to finish 25th and Meia Hefley ran a 31:15 to finish in 46th

The Jaguars will next compete on Thursday, September 18th at Panorama in Panora before heading to Story City for the Norseman Invite on Thursday, September 25th.
