JH Cross Country Competes in Lake Ciuty
The Jaguar cross country team hit the course one last time before next week’s conference championship, showing strong improvement and determination at Tuesday’s South Central Calhoun meet held in Lake City. Competing against 12 area schools, the runners focused on pacing with this longer course as they prepare for the season finale.
In the girls’ race, Averie Kitchen posted a personal best, finishing 29th out of 67 with a time of 20:20, with the rest of the ladies running in two packs, tighter than ever. The boys’ squad also turned in a consistent performance, highlighted by Griffin Vote who placed 1st, and three other top-20 finishes from Jayden Christie (7th), Henry Sandstrom (15th), and Grant Peterson (16th). Coaches praised the athletes for their effort and teamwork, noting that the meet was a great confidence booster heading into conference, with the boys placing first and the girls placing seventh.
The Jags will compete in the conference meet on Thursday, October 16, where they hope to finish the season on a high note.
