On Saturday, October 17, Southeast Valley had two runners compete at the Middle School Cross Country meet in Ankeny, Iowa. This non-state-sanctioned event draws young runners from across the state each year. The day's weather was perfect for running. Ava Eaton, a 7th grader, finished in 14:16, placing 40th out of 118 runners in the 2A class. Ava set a new PR, dropping her time by seven seconds. Taylor Dorsey also set a PR in her two-mile race. She beat her previous best time by 10 seconds with a time of 16:14 for 88th place. "This is the first time I have had runners compete in the state meet," said Coach Lee. "We will definitely encourage more runners to compete in the future." This was a great way for the middle school Jaguars to finish their season.
