JH Football Finishes Season at Greene County

On Tuesday, October 21st, the Jr High Football Jags wrapped up their 2025 season on a cold, blustery afternoon against Greene County in Jefferson. Upon arriving the SV Jag coaching staff was informed Greene County could only play four quarters due to lack of numbers on their squad leaving the coaches scrambling to come up with a different game plan. Originally, the 7th grade was scheduled to play two quarters after the 8th grade contest.

The Jags won the coin toss and opted to receive the ball wasting no time establishing their powerful run game. Running back Wyatt Muench burst 37 yards to pay dirt for the first score of the game; the second of the dynamic duo Tristan Hanson scored the 2 point conversion. On the ensuing kickoff the Jag defense was stingy all night forcing a three and out. Muench again rambled 26 yards for the second TD of the game. Wing back Landyn Fisher tallied the 2 point conversion on a nice counter play. The defense of the Jags pushed the Rams backwards with big noseguard Grant Ott wrapping up the Greene County running back for a 2 point safety. Hanson scored the third TD of the quarter with a 23 yard touchdown scamper. Safety Benett Nolte ended the first quarter with a fumble recovery.

With the game in hand the Jags were able to start substituting players after Hanson scored his second TD of the night with 7th grade TB Jackson Halsrud scoring the 2 point conversion making the score 34-0. Wide receiver/running back Landyn Fisher ran physically down the field eventually scoring on a 2 yard TD plunge in the endzone; Hanson followed with the 2 point conversion. Five Technique Reece Carslon recovered a loose ball giving the Jags another opportunity to score. This time 7th grade QB Tripp Roper got the call on a QB Iso scoring from 2 yards out; 2 point conversion no good making the score 48-0 at half.

The second half involved a continuous clock and many moving parts on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Outside backer Nicco Jondle picked off a pass thrown by the Ram QB and rambled 20 yards before getting tackled. Later in the game 7th grader WR/Running back Cam Johnson used his speed to burst off right tackle and outran the defense for a 62 yard TD run; Roper followed with the 2 pt conversion making the final score 56-0.

Both squads had tremendous seasons, the 8th grade squad finished 5-1, compiling a 11-1 two season record. The 7th grade team finished 6-0 in their first year playing Jr High football.
