SVSB @ Greene County 6/25/2024
The Jaguar softball team took on the Rams from Greene County in Jefferson on Tuesday night. Southeast Valley was on the winning side of the scoreboard, defeating Greene County by a score of 12-4 in a complete seven inning game.
The Jaguar offense was productive and efficient from the first inning through the seventh. Ellie Nolte started the game with a lead off double to left field and advanced to third on a perfectly placed bunt by Camryn Lane. Nolte would score from third and Lane would reach third on a hard hit single up the middle from Chloe Lambert. The Rams would tie it up with one run of their own in the bottom half of the first and neither team would score again until the third when the Jags would plate three to the Rams’s two.
Lane started the third with a lead off walk and scored on a double from Jordyn Rowley. Rian Schlief would record her second hit in as many at bats, singling up the middle. With Rowley on third and Schlief on second (after stealing) both would come around to score on a line drive single to the right side from Riley Carlson. The Jags won the third inning three to two and added to more in the fourth starting with a line drive double from Ellie Nolte. Nolte and Lambert would score in the fourth on a homerun blasted from Lambert. The offense got hot in the fifth and all with two outs lit up on the board. After Carlson and Eslick accounted for outs one and two, senior Alex Kitchen roped a line drive single to right field to start the two out rally. Kenna Scott followed Kitchen up with a single of her own and advanced herself to second on the error by the Ram left fielder. Kitchen sat on third and Scott on second. The Jags loaded the bases with seniors after Ellie Nolte reached first safely. Camryn Lane would add to the Jaguars hit total, doubling to center and scoring both Kitchen and Scott while moving Nolte to third. Chloe Lambert earned her third hit of the night with a single and an RBI, scoring Nolte from third. Rian Schlief brought in both Lane and Lambert on a two run single before being thrown out trying to advance to second. The final run for the Jags would come in the top of the seventh when Jordyn Rowley scored on a single hit by Schlief after doubling herself.
Chloe Lambert was the winning pitcher in the circle throwing all seven innings. Lambert faced 32 batters and struck out four while forcing pop ups and routine plays to be executed by her defense.
After Tuesday’s game, the Southeast Valley softball team is 15-6 on the season.
