Southeast Valley Girls are SCC Ross Samuelson COED Champions
The girls track team traveled to Lake City injured and banged up but ready to go compete. There were 11 girls teams in this meet so there was a lot of good competition and a good night to fine tune some things before the TLC meet next week.
As the night went on the girls were getting points in almost everything they were in and you just got that feeling that they were in the mix to be meet champions.
The night started with field events where all 3 girls scored points and got the night started off in the direction we needed to win this meet.
Madelynn Miller had her best jump of the year and placed 3rd and is now 2nd all time at SV
Hanna Wicklein improved her Discus throw 9 feet and placed 4th out of over 20 girls
Macy Mundt Improved her discus 23 feet which is just unheard of to place 3rd
Due to all the injuries there were a few events that we just could not fill due to numbers so we did not have the Sprint Med, Distance Med and High Jump
So the night with running started off with Charlie Dorsey placing 2nd in the 3000 and Katie Field placing 3rd. This was huge because we picked up 14 points
Next was a 3rd place finish in the 4x800 with Charlotte Blair, Tenley Kastendieck, Emily Wilson and Goldie Davis. This same group also placed 2nd in the 4x400 to end the night and finalize the team championship.
Next event was the shuttle hurdle which placed 2nd with Mae Searcy, Madelynn Miller, Sage Lane and Madelyn Farley
Avrie Hanson placed 2nd in the open 100
Then we got to the open 400 which was the special part of this meet. Camryn Lane suffered an injury during basketball and required surgery and was told she will miss the entire track season. That was the motivation Camryn needed to prove everyone wrong. She has worked every day to give herself a chance to run this season and that worked paid off. Camryn got cleared to run so we entered her in her favorite race the 400. She had to run from the slow heat and won her heat. Then we watched the fast heat and when they all went through she ended up winning the 400 and got us 10 points in her first race back. This was a very special moment for her and everyone else. She showed everyone to never give up and that hard work pays off.
Next the 4x200 placed 1st with Sage Lane, Mae Searcy, Madelyn Farley and Avrie Hanson. They also placed 1st the the 4x100
Madelyn Farley placed 3rd in the 100 hurdles and Mae Searcy 5th
Emily Wislon placed 3rd in the 800 and Tenley Kastendieck placed 6th
Avrie Hanson won the 200 with a photo finish
Sage Lane placed 3rd in the 400 hurdles
Then they released team scores and the girls won the meet by 20 points. This is the most excited group of girls we have seen in a long time. The girls have worked very hard and this was a great win for them to know their hard work pays off.
