Manson Northwest Webster Pulls Away in Second Quarter to Defeat Southeast Valley
MANSON — A strong second-quarter surge lifted Manson Northwest Webster to a 48–29 victory over Southeast Valley in girls basketball action.
The Jaguars stayed even with the Cougars early, as both teams finished the first quarter tied at 7–7. Manson Northwest Webster then used a 20-point second quarter to take control, building a 27–12 halftime advantage.
Southeast Valley responded with improved offensive play in the third quarter, cutting into the deficit while scoring nine points. However, the Cougars maintained momentum and extended their lead to 35–21 heading into the final period before closing out the win.
Sage Lane led Southeast Valley with 11 points, while Delaney Sittig added 9 points. Addison Lundquist contributed 5 points, and Karley Rae Smith finished with 4 points for the Jaguars.
Newell-Fonda Pulls Away Early in Win Over Southeast Valley
NEWELL — Newell-Fonda used a fast start and consistent scoring throughout the night to defeat Southeast Valley 94–37 in girls basketball action.
The Mustangs jumped out quickly, holding Southeast Valley scoreless in the opening quarter while building a 31–0 advantage. Newell-Fonda continued its momentum in the second period, extending the lead to 55–9 at halftime.
Southeast Valley found more offensive rhythm in the second half, scoring 12 points in the third quarter and adding 16 more in the fourth. However, Newell-Fonda maintained control, leading 78–21 after three quarters before closing out the contest.
Sage Lane led the Jaguars offensively with 19 points, accounting for more than half of the team’s scoring. Addison Lundquist added 6 points, while Karley Rae Smith finished with 5 points. Charlotte Blair contributed 4 points, and Delaney Sittig chipped in 3 points.
Despite the outcome, Southeast Valley showed strength from the perimeter, connecting on nine three-point field goals in the game.
Southeast Valley will look to build on its second-half performance as the Jaguars prepare for their next contest.
