The Jaguar wrestling team wrapped up their regular season at the Charger Invite at Guthrie Center on Saturday, January 31st. The squad appeared short handed because a few of the wrestlers are battling some nagging injuries and our younger wrestlers sat out the tournament to wrestle in Monday’s tournament in Fort Dodge. 

At the end of the day, 120 lb sophomore Wyatt Blair captured the 120 pound bracket by defeating Jaron Jacobs of Greene 9-4 in the final. Blair wrestled a smart match, staying in good position against Jacobs, who defeated Blair in last year's District semi final. Blair strapped his offensive game on by tech falling his opponents in the first two rounds and getting a fall in the semi’s. 

Three other Jag wrestlers, 126 Keelan Wellman, 144 Colin Johnson, and 150 Colton Haug competed in the tournament but didn’t place in the double elimination tournament. Positioning mistakes cost us the guys in their matches. We have to get back in the room and make sure we try to eliminate those positioning mistakes before they wrestle at Districts in two weeks.
