Jaguar Wrestling Medals 5, Shows Improvement at MVAO Tournament
The young Jaguar Wrestling Squad headed west for its first taste of an individually bracketed tournament on Friday, going to Maple Valley Anthon Oto. The competition at this tournament was of a wide variety, ranging from 3A schools in Sioux City to local Twin Lakes Conference competition the likes of Manson Northwest Webster and East Sac County.
The goal for this young squad is very direct: improve every time we take the mat.
We saw this goal take shape on Friday night as five of the eight wrestlers
entered in the Varsity Line-up finished with top 6 places in their respective
brackets. Josiah Hefley finished in 5th place at 120 lbs, Wyatt Blair finished
in 1st place at 126 lbs, Keelan Wellman finished in 5th place at 132 lbs, Caden
Milham finished in 2nd place at 138 lbs and Colin Johnson finished in 3rd place
at 150 pounds.
As we prepare for our third week of competition, we look forward to another Quad
with Panorama, AC-GC and Ogden along with a hyper-competitive tournament at
Roland-Story prior to Christmas Break. As we face these competitive challenges,
the young men of the program need to continue building upon the successes they
have experienced the previous two weeks and, also, continue to exhibit the core
values of hard work, determination and mental toughness that we believe in the
practice room as we continue to improve on situations and skills to hopefully
build upon nights like this tournament.
Thank you for your support of the young men of the Jaguar Wrestling Program and we hope to see you out this week either on Thursday in Panora or Saturday in Story City. GO JAGS!
