Jaguars Compete in Herb Irgens, Bring Home Some Hardware
On a frigid late weekend in January, the Jaguar wrestling team made their way to Ida Grove to compete in the annual Herb Irgens Invitation. Considered to be one of the premier high school wrestling tournaments in Iowa each season, this opportunity would serve as a great measuring stick for where our wrestlers are and the things that we need to continue to work on as we keep our eyes focused on the end of the season. Individually, we had two wrestlers place in the top 8 in their brackets, bringing home medals from this tournament. Wyatt Blair collected his 2nd medal, placing 3rd at 120 pounds this year. Joining Wyatt was Colton Haug, who placed 6th at 150 pounds. Collectively, the young men that competed here this weekend did a better job of understanding situational wrestling, demonstrating mental toughness on the mat and wrestling with physicality against top-level talent. We can take the things that we learned from this tournament and use them in the practice room to get better over the next couple of weeks as we round out this wrestling season.
Thank you all for your continued support of Jaguar Wrestling this season! If you have the time and ability, Please make your way to the gym this Thursday, January 29th for our last Home Dual and Senior night!
