HS wrestling Quad @ Pocahontas Area

The Jag wrestling team traveled to Pocahontas to participate in a quadrangular meet with the host Indians, Titans of South Central, and Titans of Graettinger-Terril RA. In the opening dual the Jags lost to the Indians 40-21, in the second dual of the evening the Jags lost to SCC and dropped the final dual to GT-RA 60-12. The Jags were still battling injuries and sickness as well as their opponents but came up short in the three duals. The young Jags are still struggling with the physicalness of the sport, getting out muscled in a large portion of their bouts in the evening. Our guys had trouble staying in good position and getting out underneath, resulting in us getting turned to our backs.

Freshman Wyat Blair continues to shine going 3-0 for the night. Freshman Colton Haug had a good night wrestling, finishing 2-1. Freshman Keelan Wellman also wrestled hard finishing 1-2 with one of his losses coming in a tough overtime loss against his SCC opponent. Allan Summers, Colin Johnson, and Kyle Eastman finished 1-2 for the night. Oliver Riehl and Brodey Laughman competed hard against solid competition and finished winless for the night. Inexperienced Freshman Leo Ramirez and Jaiden Johnson were given their first opportunity against Varsity competition dropping their matches.

It was good to get Brodey back in the line up after he battled a lengthy illness. He has to get his lungs built back to wrestle a full six minutes. Our guys continue to battle as they head into their final week of competition before Christmas break.
