Jag Wrestling Week of Janaury 27
On January 30th, the Jags traveled to Aurelia in their final dual meet of the 2024-2025 season competing against the Warriors of Alta-Aurelia, Raiders of East Sac County, and Wolverines of West Bend-Mallard. The Jags picked up two team wins defeating the Raiders 45-18 in the opening dual and the Wolverines in the final dual, 44-24. Conference Tournament title winners Alta-Aurelia out muscled the Jags 65-12 in the second dual. 113 lbs Wyatt Blair led the way with three wins for the night, 120 lbs Keelan Wellman, 138 lbs Allan Summers, 144 lbs Colton Haug, 165 lbs Brodey Laughman, 190 lbs Kyle Eastman, and 215 lbs Cooper Spece finished 2-1 for the night, 126 lbs Caden Milham, 132 lbs Colin Johnson, and 157 lbs Oliver Riehl posted a victory for the Jags.
On Saturday, February 1st participated in another tough individual tournament. Twenty four teams made their way to Guthrie Center to compete for the Charger Invite title. 113 lb Freshman Wyatt Blair advanced to the finals in a competitive weight bracket that featured two returning State Qualifiers. Blair reached the finals by pinning Jaron Jacobs of Greene County in the second period with an inside cradle after a very competitive first period. In the finals, Blair squared off against returning State Qualifier Kingston Carrigan of Oakland, Riverside. Blair dropped a tough 16-7 match where both wrestlers battled hard for the title. Fellow Jag wrestlers Keelan Wellman, Caden Milham, Colin Johnson, Allan Summers, Colton Haug, Oliver Riehl, Brodey Laughman, Kyle Eastman and Cooper Spece did not place in the top six of their respective weight classes.
