JH Girls Jaguar Basketball Update
On Friday, January 9th, the Southeast Valley junior high girls basketball team traveled to Lake View for a matchup with the Raiders of East Sac. The 7th grade game got off to a decent start for the Jags as they trailed 14-7 at half, but were unable to finish with the victory. The Raiders pulled away for a 40-13 win. The Jags were led in scoring by Reagan Cramer’s 5. Taylor Carlson contributed 4 points, while Averie Kitchen and Brinlynn Alliger chipped in with 2 points. In the 8th grade game, the 8th grade team played hard and did a decent job of moving the ball on offense and against East Sac’s press, but came out on the short end 53-18. The Jags were led in scoring by Tana Harrison’s 6 points. Kaylee Hicks had 4 points, while Leah Fiala, Kelsey Hayes and Aubree Richardson contributed 2 points for the Jags cause.
Coach McCloud is quoted as saying, “East Sac has 2 good junior high teams. They run the floor well and they are very aggressive. We were flat for the most part tonight. Our kids always play hard no matter what the score is and that is something that is a compliment to them. I know the score doesn’t show it, but the 8th graders did probably their best job of moving the ball tonight and had good looks to score, unfortunately it was a tough shooting night for us. The Jags will now be in action on Monday, January 12th, as they face Manson-NW Webster for a rematch from earlier this season. Keep working hard Jags!!
