JH Girls @ Newell-Fonda
On Monday, December 1st, the Southeast Valley junior high girls basketball team traveled to Newell-Fonda to face the Mustangs. The 7th grade got the night started off with the Jags playing a gritty game, but fell to the Mustangs 40-15. The Jags were led in scoring by Taylor Carlson’s 8 points. Reagan Cramer contributed 3 points, while Brinlynn Alliger and Aubrey McGuire chipped in 2 points. In the nightcap, the 8th grade Jags put up a fierce battle but also fell short to the Mustangs by the final score of 46-18. The Jags were led in scoring by Tana Harrison’s 8 points. Aleyah Hoefer contributed 5 points, while Leah Fiala chipped in with 3 points and Kelsey Hayes had 2 points for the Jags cause.
Coach McCloud is quoted as saying, “This was a tough night for us. Newell-Fonda is very good and they play intensely for all 24 minutes of each game. We show at times that we can do the same thing, the difference is when you make it a close game with them, they pop the clutch and put you away. I am always happy with our energy and effort. I know the girls are working hard and getting better everyday. Coach Kelley and I are always preaching about how hustle never takes a day off. Hopefully we can keep working and teaching the game to the girls and we can see the improvement continuing.”
The Jags will next be in action on Tuesday, December 2nd, when they host the Bulldogs of Ogden. Keep working hard Jags!
