Jaguar Junior High Baseball vs. Newell-Fonda 5.30.24

The Southeast Valley Junior High Baseball teams welcomed the Mustangs from Newell-Fonda on Thursday, May 30th. In the first ball game of the day, the 7th grade ball club secured a 11-5 victory after a close contest at the end of the 1st inning of action. Entering the top of the second inning, the score was 5-4 on the scoreboard. The Jaguars scored 5 runs in the bottom of the first, and in the bottom of the third.

Tucker Ollinger threw a complete game (four innings) and struck out four Mustang batters. Scoring for the Jaguars in the 7th grade game were Ollinger, August Akins, Ethan Martin, Josiah Hefley, Colton Bachel, Carter Lloyd, Jackson Bintz, and Blaine Peterson.

In the second contest on the diamond, the 8th grade squad won in the bottom of the 5th inning, scoring the winning run on a passed ball that escaped Mustang catcher's grasp, and Caden Cramer crossing the plate in walk-off fashion. The Jaguars won by the score of 3-2.

Dawson Tuel and Landon Vote both pitched solid games on the mound, with Tuel recording 8 strikeouts in three innings of work; and Vote recording an outstanding three-pitch inning in the top of the 4th inning. A flyout to center field, a ground ball to second base, and a flyball caught by the catcher helped secure the rare feat in baseball. Vote also retired all six batters he faced in two innings of work to earn the victory. Scoring for the Jaguars were Conner Rentz, Vote, and Cramer. Keelan Wellman and Rentz each spun around the bases after well-struck baseballs reached the outfield fence, and both recorded triples in the low scoring contest. Tuel added one hit on a single and an RBI.

Both teams play again on Wednesday, June 5th, as they travel to Lytton to face the Titans of South Central Calhoun.
