JH Baseball @ Manson

On Monday, June 23rd, the JH baseball program visited Manson Northwest-Webster and played two games between rain storms.

In the first game of the day, the 7th graders won by the score of 9-1. Reece Carlson earned the win on the mound, pitching three full innings while giving up only one MNW hit. Carlson struck out four Cougar batters. Griffin Vote closed out the game in the bottom of the 4th inning, facing four total batters and struck out three back-to-back-to-back.

Recording hits for the Jaguars were Tristan Hanson (2B), Boe Davis, Wyatt Muench, Carlson, Jaxon Van Cannon, Jax Hindt, Vote, and Bryson Christian. Davis, R. Carlson, Van Cannon, Hindt, Vote, Nolan Albright, Christian, and Cayl Carlson all recorded one RBI each. Scoring one run a piece were Hanson, Davis, Muench, R. Carlson, Van Cannon, Hindt, Vote, Grant Ott, and Albright.

The second game between the two school's was an exciting game between two very solid teams. In the first match-up between these two teams, MNW won 7-10 in Dayton.

Bennett Nolte was given the opportunity to lead the 8th grade group on the mound, trusting his defense, and pitched a gem of a four inning ball game. Although he struggled in the 2nd inning, walking three straight batters to start the inning off, Notle kept his composure through it all. Nolte had an excellent pick off at second base and struck out two straight to get out of the inning and any potential trouble. With the help of solid catcher's work behind the plate from Josiah Hefley, Nolte ended up with 8 total strikeouts, and only allowed two hits.

After being tied 1-1 after two complete innings, the bottom of the order in Tristan Hanson, Nolte, and Boe Davis came up huge in the top of the 3rd inning. Hanson started the inning off with base-hit over the shortstop's reach and on the very next pitch he successfully stole 2nd base. Nolte followed with a hard-ground ball and reached on an error that moved Hanson then to third and Nolte made his way to second. Boe Davis, batting at the bottom of the 11-man order, roped a line drive to the outfield and drove in Hanson easily. Nolte reached 3rd ,and could have potentially been sent home on a MNW misthrow, stayed at third with hopes of the lead-off man Josiah Hefley doing his job with the bat. Hefley kept the momentum going, earning a base-hit and drove in Nolte. After a strikeout, and the first out of the inning, Ehtan Martin also put the ball in play and earned yet another hit in the inning for the Jaguars. Martin drove in Davis before being thrown out at 3rd base in a bang-bang call. The Jaguars now led 5-1 going into the last half of the third. With the excitement of excellent ball being played all around the diamond, mother nature decided to spice things up with some noticeable rain conditions in the later half of the game. In the end, great pitch execution and solid defensive play in the field helped secure the 5-1 victory for the Jaguars.
