JH Baseball Split with Woodward-Granger 6.25.24
On Tuesday, June 25th, Southeast Valley JH baseball hosted Woodward-Grange in a double-header.
In the first game, the 7th grade ball team made some early mistakes in the field, committing 5 errors in the 1st inning; and trailed 0-5 right off the bat. The young Jaguars bounced back in the second inning, going 1, 2, and 3 outs the next three batters. The Jaguars cut the lead to 3-5 after the bottom of the second inning, but two more errors in the third kept the Jaguars at bay. In the end, the 7th grade ball team experienced their first loss of the season, falling 5-9 to a very solid Woodward-Granger club.
Scoring for the Jaguars were Josiah Hefley, Ethan Martin, Colton Bachel, August Akins, and Jameson Bernau; Blaine Peterson and Bernau recorded the only two hits for SV.
In the 2nd game of the afternoon, Carver Peterson pitched a really great game on the mound. Peterson, and the Jaguar defense, kept Woodward-Granger scoreless the first 3 1/3 innings of the ball game, resulting in a 11-5 victory.
Landon Vote continued to reach base as the lead-off man, scoring all three times he stepped into the batter's box, Vote also added 2 RBI. Conner Rentz had a great day hitting the ball, as he drove in a game high 4 RBI and reached third base all three times he ran the base paths. Scoring in the game were Vote (3), Ca. Peterson (2), Rentz, Dawson Tuel, Caden Cramer, Colby Peterson, Brennan Milham, and Ben Wanat. Keelan Wellman added an RBI.
The 7th Grade team record is now 9-1 on the summer season, and the 8th Grade team record is now 8-1 on the year. Both teams will wrap up the baseball season at home on Monday, July 1st, as they host Greene County.
