JH Baseball at Newell-Fonda
The Junior High Baseball teams travelled to Fonda on Thursday, June 19th. The 7th Grade baseball team earned a 13-4 win over the Newell-Fonda Mustangs, while the 8th Grade team won 12-1.
In the 7th grade match-up, Boe Davis started on the mound, pitching three full innings before Bennett Nolte closed out the game in the bottom of the 4th inning. Davis struck out 6 batters, all in the 2nd and 3rd innings. Wyatt Muench was the other half of the battery.
Offensively, Notle went 2-2 with the bat, scoring three runs and earned four total stolen bases. Tristan Hanson also went 2-2, scored three runs, and drove in three Jaguar runs. Muench, batting clean-up, hit well on the day. He had an inside-the-park homerun, a triple, and a single as he drove in 4 RBI. Reece Carlson, Griffin Vote, and Bryson Christian also recorded a base-hit in the contest. Jaxson Johnson scored a run, as well as Christian.
In the 8th grade game, Josiah Hefley debuted on the mound for the first time this season. Hefley pitched the first two innings of the contest, facing 8 N-F batters, striking out two. August Akins closed out the game with one inning of work, striking out his first batter while facing the minimum three batters.
The Jaguars combined for 11 total hits in the 8th grade game alone. Five of the eleven hits were extra-base hits, led again by Wyatt Muecnh who ended up adding another double and triple for his efforts with the bat in his hands. Muench finished with 6 total RBIs on the day. Tucker Ollinger went 2-2 with a triple and 2 RBI. Ethan Martin was 2-2, earned a double and also added 2 RBI. Bennett Nolte went 1-2, with a double, and scored twice, while also adding 2 RBI. Colton Bachel recorded a base-hit in the top of the third inning, and also scored a run. Jackson Bintz went 1-2, and scored one run. Griffin Vote and Josiah Hefley rounded out the Jaguars in hitting, both recording a hit. Jonny Snider and Carter Lloyd each earned a walk and scored soon after.
