After a washout a week ago, the Southeast Valley boys’ track & field team finally got to compete outdoors for the first time on Friday, April 10th at the Ram Early Bird Relays in Jefferson. At the conclusion of the meet, the Jaguars found themselves at top of the team standings with 120 points. Forest City was 2nd with 89.5 and Earlham was third with 88.5.

The Jaguars were led by six 1st places finishes, a couple school records and several school top-10 finishes. Individually, the Jaguars had three first place finishes. Colin Johnson won the 110m high hurdles in a school record time of 15.18. Ian Brunner’s shot put throw of 46’ 0.5” won the shot put and is the 4th furthest throw in school history. In the 200m dash, Kayden Showers claimed gold running a 22.96.

The Jaguars also claimed three relay titles winning the shuttle hurdle, the 4 x 100m and 4 x 200m relays. The shuttle hurdle relay time was a school record 1:01.12 run by Alex Burger, Casey Hanson, Kolton Ollinger and Colin Johnson. Alex and Casey joined Logan Jaeschke and Kayden Showers in the 4 x 200m to run a meet record time of 1:32.65 for the third fastest in school history. Casey, Logan, Colin and Kayden then ran the second fastest school history time in the 4 x 100 of 43.85.  

Picking up silver medals was Kolton Ollinger in the 110m high hurdles running a 15.97 which moved him up to 6th in school history, while Alex Burger took 2nd in the 400m low hurdles in a time of 57.35. Alex also took 3rd place in the long jump with a season best of 20’ 1”. Logan Jaeschke found third place in the 100m dash running in 11.56 which tied him for 7th all time.

The 4 x 800m relay team also earned a bronze medal running a season best time of 9:27.08 with the quartet of Landon Vote, Kasen Loeffler, Ethan Tucker and August Akins.

Kolton Ollinger, Keelan Wellman, Bryce Harrison and Lincoln Akins found 4th place in the distance medley relay with a time of 3:55.57 and Lincoln took 5th in the 3200m run. His time of 10:47.75 is 6th all-time.

Also with fifth place finishes on the night were Deegan Brandel (discus, 128-04”), Colden Mapel (110 HH, 16.51) and Kolton Ollinger (long jump, 18-10”). Sixth place finishes went to Trennis Stevens running a PR in the 400m hurdles (1:03.24) and 4 x 400m (3:49.26) with Keelan Wellman, Lincoln Akins, Landon Vote and Ethan Martin. Deegan also finished 7th in the shot put (39-01”) and Landon Vote was 8th in the 400m dash (57.81)

Southeast Valley will next compete in their home invitational on Monday, April 13th in Gowrie before heading to Manson on Thursday, April 16th. They will return back to Gowrie on Monday, April 20th for their home coed invitational.
