SV Boys' T & F Team Competes at Manson

The Southeast Valley boys’ track & field team found their third straight track & field championship in Manson on a beautiful night at the Emily Markert Coed Relays on Thursday, April 16th. The Jaguars team title was a total team effort as they found points in all 19 events, including double scoring in 8 of those events. The Jaguars also set five school records, four meet records and had 22 season best times and distances for the year.

Bringing home gold on the night was the shuttle hurdle relay, distance medley relay, Kayden Showers in the 100m and 200m dash, Colin Johnson in the 110m hurdles and Alex Burger in the 400m hurdles. Individually Kayden’s 11.02 in the 100m and 22.73 in the 200m dash as well as Alex’s 400m time of 54.21 set both school records and meet records on Thursday night. The shuttle hurdle of Alex, Casey Hanson, Kolton Ollinger and Colin broke the covenant one minute mark in 59.45 also setting both the school and meet record. Colin’s time of 14.78 in the high hurdles set the school record.

The distance medley team of Kolton Ollinger, Bryce Harrison, Alex Burger and Owen Nuss ran a season best time of 3:46.69 in the distance medley relay to take 1st. Owen also ran as season best in the 1600m run (4:56.50) for fourth.  

Logan Jaeschke was a double place winner taking 2nd place in the 100m dash (11.29) and 200m dash (22.73). Also a double place winner Thursday was Lincoln Akins finishing 2nd in the 3200m run (10:57.37) and the 4th in the 800m run (2:08.02). Colin won a second individual medal finishing 2nd in the 400m lows (55.66) and Alex took 4th in the high jump (5-08”). 

Freshman Colden Mapel picked up a pair of medals with 2nd and a freshman record in the 110m high hurdles (16.03) and 3rd in the high jump clearing 5’ 8”. Freshman Ethan Martin earned his pair of medals with 3rd with a season best long jump (19-04”) and 5th in the 400m dash (56.99). Keelan Wellman ran a season best in the 400m dash (55.01) and Landon Vote found a career best in the 800m run (2:09.87) to finish 7th. Kasen Loeffler had a PR in the 1600m run (5:16.10)

In the field events, Ian Brunner found fourth place in the shot put (44-08”) and Deegan Brandel had a best in the discus (130-05”) to take 7th. Kolton Ollinger found 5th place in the long jump just off his season best (19-1.75”).

The 4 x 400m relay team (E. Martin, T. Stevens, B. Harrison, J. Hefley) was fourth in 3:49.56 while the sprint medley relay (L. Ramirez, T. Ollinger, T. Stevens, K. Welman) was fifth in a season best of 1:44.79. A 47.58 was 6th in the 4 x 100m relay (J. Johnson, L. Ramirez, K. Wellman, and C. Mapel) and 1:42.67 was 8th in the 4 x 200m relay (L. Ramirez, J. Johnson, T. Stevens, J. Hefley).

The Jaguars will compete in senior night in Gowrie at the Southeast Valley coed relays on Monday, April 20th before heading to Newell-Fonda on Friday, April 24th. The Jaguars will also have three events competing in the Drake Relays on Friday, April 24th and Saturday, April 25th.
