SV Boys' Track & Field at East Sac County Relays

        The Southeast Valley Jaguars competed in their last regular season track & field meet of the year in Sac City in the East Sac Relays on Monday, May 12th. The Jaguars were looking to fine tune some things before they headed to the class 2A state qualifying meet in Ogden on Thursday, May 15th. The Jaguars ended up winning their sixth team title of the year scoring 120 points. Ridge View scored 99 points for second place and host East Sac was third with 88 points.

               The Southeast Valley relay teams once again led the way for the Jaguars. The 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 quartet of Dreyvon Steadman, Logan Jaeschke, Bryce Harrison Kayden Showers won both relays in meet record times of 43.95 and 1:32.25 respectively. The shuttle hurdle relay team of Alex Burger, Casey Hanson, Kolton Ollinger and Colin Johnson also claimed gold in a time of 1:03.08 while Alex, Kolton, Colin and Owen Nuss teamed up to run a 3:36.69 to also win gold in the 4 x 400m relay.

               The distance medley relay team of Kolton Ollinger, Casey Hanson, Drew Dorsey and Ethan Tucker found silver finishing in 4:03.95. Drew Dorsey, Landon Vote, Trennis Stevens and Logan Bintz took bronze in the 4 x 800m relay running 9:58.36. Jaiden Johnson, Riley Fawcett, Leo Ramirez and Keelan Wellman finished 4th in the 800m sprint medley running a 1:46.27.

               Individually, three Jaguars found gold in their races. Dreyvon Steadman (100m dash), Kayden Showers (200m dash) and Colin Johnson (110m high hurdles) all won their respective races. Dreyvon was 11.14 in the 100, Kayden ran 23.00 in the 200 and Colin ran 15.85 in the 110m high hurdles. Logan Jaeschke took a runner-up finish behind Kayden in the 200m dash in a season best time of 23.54. 

               In the longer distances, three different Jaguars were able to pick up bronze medals. In the 3200m run, Lincoln Akins took 3rd in a time of 11:23.35 while Ethan Tucker took 3rd in the 1600m run in 5:39.28. In the 800m run, Owen Nuss found 3rd place running a 2:11.85. Casey Hanson also found bronze in the 400m low hurdles in a time of 1:03.42. 

               Bryce Harrison ran a season best 11.58 in the 100m dash to take 4th while Keelan Wellman’s season best 57.05 was 5th in the 400m dash. Ian Brunner also picked up 5th place in the shot put (39-06”). Several other runners also had season best finishes in their individual races. Leo Ramirez and Riley Fawcett ran 12.03 and 12.34 in the 100m dash respectively, while Blaise Echevarria ran a season best 2:24.96 in the 800 and Landon Vote ran a 1:01.13 in the open 400m dash.

               The Jaguars on Thursday, May 15th will compete in the class 2A state qualifying meet in Ogden. The top two place winners and next best 8 finishes from all sites will advance to the Iowa State Track and Field championships in Des Moines on Thursday, May 22nd, Friday, May 23rd and Saturday, May 24th.
