SV T & F Compete at the Cougar Boys’ Relays
The Southeast Valley Boys’ track team fell four points short of winning their 6th straight track meet of the season Tuesday, April 28th at the Cougar Boys’ Relays in Manson. Carroll won the meet with 147 points while Southeast Valley had 144. Host Manson NW was third with 89 points.
The Jaguar shuttle hurdle continued their strong season setting another meet record, winning the shuttle hurdle in a time of 1:01.74. The winning quartet was Alex Burger, Casey Hanson, Kolton Ollinger and Colin Johnson. The 4 x 200m relay team of Colin Johnson, Casey Hanson, Logan Jaeschke and Kayden Showers also won in a winning time of 1:33.61.
The Jaguars also took runner-up honors in the 4 x 100m relay, the 4 x 400m relay and the distance medley relay. Running a 3:48.61 was Keelan Wellman, Bryce Harrison, Kolton Ollinger and Owen Nuss in the distance medley relay. Casey Hanson, Logan Jaeschke, Colin Johnson and Kayden Showers ran 44.70 in the 4 x 100 and Landon Vote, Keelan Wellman, Alex Burger and Logan Jaeschke’s 3:33.65 was 3rd fastest in school history in the 4 x 400.
The 4 x 800m relay team of August Akins, Logan Bintz, Drew Dorsey, and Ethany Tucker were 3rd in a time of 9:25.17.
Individually Colin Johnson was 1st in the 400m hurdles and Trennis Stevens was 4th both running a season best of 55.41 and 1:00.65 respectively. Kayden Showers took 1st place in the 100m dash in a time of 11.49. Lincoln Akins took 3rd place in the 3200m relay with a PR of 10:23.60 while teammate Kasen Loeffler was 5th with a PR time of 11:20.25. Alex Burger took 2nd in the 110m high hurdles in 15.50 while Colden Mapel was 3rd in 17.14.
Other 3rd place finishes were Alex Burger (LJ, 20-00.75”), Lincoln Akins (800m, 2:11.43), and Owen Nuss (1600m, 4:59.53). Keelan Wellman also picked up a 4th place finish in his 800m run, running a 2:12.70 which is 9th all-time in school history. Bryce Harrison picked up 4th in the 200m dash (23.85), Landon Vote was 4th in the 56.47 (56.47), Deegan Brandel was 4th in the discus (126-00”) and Kolton Ollinger took 4th in the long jump (18-07.25”).
JV Results
The JV also had an impressive night, duplicating the varsity’s second place team finish behind Carroll. The JV’s 136 points were led by six first place finishes. Gold medalists were Leo Ramirez in the 110m high hurdles (18.24, PR), Ethan Tucker in the 800m run (2:25.84, PR), and Logan Bintz in the 1600m run (5:33.59).
Three relays also claimed first place. They were the shuttle hurdle team of Trennis Stevens, Josiah Hefley, Asher Loeffler and Chris Andrews in 1:20.20. Parker Bintz, Ethan Martin, Tucker Ollinger and Kasen Loeffler won the distance medley in 4:19.09 before Parker, Ethan and Tucker joined Josiah Hefley in the 4 x 400m relay at the end of the meet winning the race in a time of 3:49.18; just short of the freshmen record.
Riley Fawcett took 2nd place in the 100m dash (12.87), Blaise Echevarria was 2nd in the 400m dash (1:01.24, PR) and also 3rd in the 1600m run (5:53.00, PR), Wyatt Blair was 2nd in the 800m run (2:35.09, PR), and Asher Loeffler was 2nd in the 400m low hurdles (1:08.77, PR).
The 4 x 100m relay of Leo, Riley, Jaiden Johnson and Colden Mapel was 2nd in the 4 x 100m relay (47.89). Parker Bintz was 3rd (26.36, PR) and Tucker Ollinger (26.54) was 4th in the 200m dash. Jaiden Johnson (100m, 13.44, PR), Jake Paterson (400m, 1:03.39) and Chris Andrews (400m hurdles, 1:11.22) all picked up 4th place finishes.
The Jaguars are heading towards the end of the season with the Twin Lakes Conference meet on Tuesday, May 5th at Pocahontas and then heading to Lake City on Thursday, May 7th. The Jaguars will run their last regular season meet at Sac City on Monday, May 11th before heading to Sioux Rapids for their 2A state qualifying meet on Thursday, May 14th.
