IATC Track & Field Awards
Recently, the Iowa Association of Track Coaches (IATC) released their end of the season awards for their member schools for the 2026 track and field season. The Southeast Valley boys’ track and field team received a handful of these awards.
Colin Johnson was named to the IATC Elite All-state team for the 400m hurdles. To make the elite team, Colin had one of the four fastest times in all classes (for IATC member schools) at the state meet in Des Moines in May.
Southeast Valley’s Sprint Medley and Shuttle Hurdle relay teams earned the IATC 2A All-state status in their respective events. To earn IATC all-state status, you had to finish in the top four at the state meet in your class and be a member of the IATC. The Jaguars sprint medley was 2nd overall and the shuttle hurdle relay team was 3rd. Members of the sprint medley relay were Alex Burger, Kayden Showers, Logan Jaeschke, and Colin Johnson. The shuttle hurdle team was Alex Burger, Casey Hanson, Kolton Ollinger and Colin Johnson.
Finally, members of the IATC nominate and vote on coaches of the year choosing an overall coach of the year for each class for the state of Iowa and five at-large regional coaches of the year in each class. Southeast Valley boys’ head coach Travis Nuss was chosen as one of the five at-large coaches for class 2A in Iowa by members of the IATC. The overall coach of the year in class 2A was Luke Ossman of Alburnett. The other four class 2A at-large coaches of the year were Steve Riley and Scott Dennier of Columbus Junction, Jeff Koenck of Treynor, Christopher Conger of Grundy Center, and Travis Brad of Spirit Lake.
