Jags Come Up Short
Emmetsburg, IA ~ The varsity volleyball team traveled to Emmetsburg on Tuesday, September 17th for a Twin Lakes Conference Triangular with Emmetsburg and Manson-NW Webster.
In the first match of the night the ladies were defeated by the scores of 23-25, 19-25, and 16-25. The team served at 91.1% with Lizzie Thompson, Rian Schlief, and Madelyn Farley perfect behind the serving line. Camryn Lane had four ace serves while Annabelle MacRunnel and Anna Corell had one each.’
Liz Thompson had a solo block and also led the team with four digs. Offensively, Rian Schlief led the team with eight kills. Liberty Suchan had seven kills, Farley had five, and Thompson and Riley Carlson had four. The biggest issue with offense was that the team was negative with their hitting. They had more errors than kills during the match.
The E-Hawks are 5-1 overall and 5-0 in conference standings.
The girls played five games against the Cougars of Manson-NW Webster falling 14-16 in the fifth game. They lost by the scores of 24-26, 25-17, 11-25, 25-17, 14-16. Manson is 8-9 overall and 2-2 in conference.
The team did a great job with serving going at 96.7% with eleven aces. Rian Schlief and Madelyn Farley had three aces during the match while Thompson and MacRunnel had two. Corell had one.
The same issue as with the first match was hitting efficiency. The team overall was negative with their hitting efficiency which needs to be improved to be more competitive. They also struggled at times with serve receive to set up their offense. The team had 32 kills during the match with Rian Schlief leading the team with 10. Farley and Thompson had six each. Madelyn had the lone solo block of the night too.
The Jaguars are 3-8 overall and 1-3 in conference standings.
