Jaguars Come Back to Win
Gowrie, IA ~ The Lady Jaguars found themselves coming back after getting beat two games to defeat the Mustangs of Newell-Fonda Thursday night. The ladies won the first set 25-23 but lost the next two 11-25 and 18-25. In the fourth match they were behind but turned things around to win 25-23 and then they won the final set 15-10. The girls improved to 7-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play.
The team averaged 10 assists and 10.8 kills per game. They had 8 ace serves and averaged 10.2 digs per set.
Leading the team offensively was Madelyn Farley who had 19 kills. Lizzie Thompson had 14 kills while Rian Schlief had 13. Others contributing offensively were Riley Carlson with 5 kills and Liberty Suchan had three. Senior Camryn Lane had 29 assists while Suchan had 11 and Kinslie Nolte had six.
The team struggled some with serving in the second and third matches and the team ended up the night serving at 88.7%. Schlief had three ace serves while Thompson and Carlson had two each.
The girls travel to Sioux Central next Thursday, September 11th.
JVR and JV are Defeated
The junior varsity reserve and junior varsity teams were defeated by the Mustangs. The JVR opened the night losing by the scores of 13-21 and 18-21. Shayden Hefley, Jacey Carlson, Jaylon Zika, and Farrah Tuel were perfect behind the serving line. Bella Smith had three kills while Hefley had two and Jacey Carlson, Jaylon Zika, and Peyton Lockner each had one. JVR plays at Lake City Monday, September 8th in a triangular.
The JV lost by the scores of 13-21 and 11-21 to the Mustangs. Kalli Thompson, Trinity Anderson, Reagan Pearson, and Goldie Davis were perfect behind the serving line. Addi Larson and Reagan Pearson each had two kills each. Mae Searcy each had one each. The girls struggled to get their offense going and ended up with a negative attack efficiency rating.
