JVR Volleyball Places 2nd at Their Own Invitational
Gowrie, IA ~ The Southeast Valley JVR Invitational was held Saturday, October 4th at the high school. It was an eight team invite with teams from St. Edmond, Coon Rapids- Bayard, Fort Dodge, Carroll Kuemper, Manson Northwest Webster, South Central Calhoun and Eagle Grove participated.
The girls ended up 2nd overall and going 4-1 for the day. They won their Pool by splitting with Manson NWW by the scores of 16- 21 and 21-13. In the second match they beat St. Edmond by the scores of 21-12 and 21-14. The third match the girls defeated Eagle Grove by the scores of 23-21 and 21-12. Manson Northwest Webster ended up second in the pool followed by Eagle Grove then St. Edmonds.
In the Championship flight the Jaguars beat South Central Calhoun by the scores of 21-18 and 21-9. Carroll Kuemper ended up winning the Jaguar Invitational by beating the Jags with the scores 6- 21 and 7-21. Jags earned runner-up.
Leading the team with kills for the day were Bella Smith with 17, Shayden Hefley with 12, Jacey Carlson with 7, followed by Madelyn Miller with 5, Addison Lundquist with 4 and Peyton Lockner with 2.
Ace serves for the day were Jacey Carlson and Bella Smith each having 7, Charlotte Blair and Shayden Hefley with 4 each.
The SV Jaguar junior varsity reserve squad consisted of Charlotte Blair, Peyton Lockner, Bella Smith, Jacey Carlson, Shayden Hefley, Tenley Kastendieck, Emily Wilson, Addison Lundquist, Bella Dorsey, Molly VanSickle,Brylee Alliger, Madelyn Miller and Alyssa Luhmann.
A big thank you to the whole high school volleyball team (workers), Mr.Brian Hanson and the coaches in managing and operating a smooth tournament. The tournament began at 8:30 AM and finished a little after 3:15.
