Jaguar football team falls to 2-2 for the season.

This was a tough game for the boys but a learning experience for the rest of the season and for the rest of their lives.

In sports there are a lot of ups and downs and sometimes you just play an opponent that is better than you. This was the case with Des Moines Christian. We have no excuse, they just are the better team this year.

Both the players and coaches knew going into this game that they were going to be challenged as DC had their way with the Jags last season and returned most of their team but the challenge was how would the Jags respond and that is what the coaches were looking for. Would the boys go out and fight or would they let last season affect this outcome was the question.

So the boys took the field with 20 boys eligible to play Friday night as Des Moines Christian had 60 and you could tell DC passed the look test. They were big and fast and had a lot of numbers. The first quarter was a lot like last season where the Jags found themselves down early 20-6 and that is where the boys became men and kept on fighting for the rest of the game. Down 20-6 and looking back on last season that was their chance to throw in the towel but the boys never gave up and fought hard the last 3 quarters of the game. The Jags were still fighting till the end when there had been no scoring the second half and with 4 minutes to go DC left their starters in against the Jags backups for the final score. So even when you look at scores, coaches are looking at who kept fighting and who gave up and the coaches saw a bunch of kids who kept fighting and that is all we can ask.

The Jaguars are dealing with some major injuries this season and are trying to find some younger kids who can step up for us. The boys have some tough challenges in front of them so we will see who is gonna fight for us the rest of the season.
