SV vs Kuemper

The Jaguar football team gave #5 ranked Carroll Kuemper everything they had in their last game of the season. Kuemper came into the contest ranked 5th in class 2A and already locked up back to back District Championships and the Jags were dealing with a ton of injuries so nobody knew what to expect. All that was asked from the boys was to give everything that you have one last time this season and see what happens.

Jags started the first drive with a nice 12 play drive but were forced to punt.

Kuemper took their first drive 10 plays and then Logan Jaeschke had an interception and got the ball back to the Jags.

Jags offense took another 12 play drive to the 4 yard line and attempted a Field Goal to try taking the lead but missed.

Kuemper took over and put together a 17 play scoring drive. The longest drive of the season for them by far as the Jags defense was holding their own but Kuemper was still good enough to move the chains.

Before you knew it halftime was there and the Jags were only behind 0-7 to the best team in the district.

It was a wake up call to Kuemper as their coach's exact words were we came out and punched them in the mouth the first half. They wasted no time in the second half as they came out and scored in 4 plays. Then they recovered a perfect onside kick and took that down and scored and before the Jags ever touched the ball the second half Kuemper had scored twice.

Now down 3 TD's, what were the Jags going to do? They continued to fight and put together a 13 play drive with runs and passes and Brady Hanson ran in a TD from 6 yards out.

Jags defense forced a quick punt but threw an Interception right back to them.

Kuemper took advantage of that and scored right away.

The Jags offense put together one last drive with runs and passes to Logan Jaeschke and then Cale Vansickle hit Logan Jaeschke for a 10 yard TD to make the final score 12-34.

This is a game where the boys never gave up and they gave everything they had in them. That is all we wanted as coaches. We are proud of their effort and really proud of the Seniors for giving everything they had to this program one last time.

As we send the Seniors on to Winter Sports we will take a little time off and start preparing for next season. A Lot of young kids got playing time this season and hopefully that experience pays off for them down the road but they need to dedicate themselves to off-season weight lifting if they want to get better.
