The Southeast Valley football team loses a close game 34-27 to Emmetsburg who is ranked in the top 10.

Everyone knew going into this game what Emmetsburg was going to do and you just had to try and stop their run game. After Emmetsburg week 1 game they came into town after a 400 yard night of rushing the week before. Emmetsburg is big and physical and they are not going to make mistakes so you have to play your best to beat them and the boys did their best but just did not have enough at the end for the comeback.

The first quarter went very fast as each team had 2 possessions but neither were able to do anything with them.

On Emmetsburg 4th drive they scored on a 13 yard QB keeper to take the lead 6-0

2 plays later the Jags fumbled the ball and gave Emmetsburg very good field position on the 13 yard line. They wasted no time and took a 14-0 lead into half.

The Jags offense came right out and put a 8 play drive together and Mason Bahr ran it in from the 3, and Spencer Peterson made the extra point and made the score 14-7

Emmetsburg take a nice long 10 play drive and takes a 21-7 lead

Jags throws an Interception on play 1 and that was a huge turning point in the game as Emmetsburg took advantage of it and took the lead 28-7 late in the 3rd and the Jags looked like they were going to call it a night.

The Jags move the ball a little then Mason Bahr hot Bryce Harrison for a 36 yard TD and Spencer Peterspn hit the PAT and the score was 28-14.

Jags onside kick and recover and put another drive together but were stopped again.

Jags defense comes up big as Deegan Brandel drove his guy back and blocked a punt and the JAgs recovered it and Casey Hanson ran it in from the 1 and Spencer hit his 3rd PAT and just like that 28-21.

Jags kick onside and recover and take the ball down the field in 4 plays and Casey Hanson scores again but the Jags missed the PAT and the score was 27-28 Emmtsburg.

The Jags had to try another onside but Emmetsburg recovered and put a late drive together to finish the game.

Coaches were very happy with the way the boys responed after being down 14-0 at half and made a game of it.  

The Jags could not get over the 2 turnovers and the couple big plays. Just a tough team to beat when you have the mistakes we had throughout the night.

Mason Bahr was 8 for 16 for 106 and 1 TD and also had 15 carries for 84 yards and 1 TD

Casey Hanson was 4 for 7 for 52 yards and 2 TD's rushing

Bryce Harrison had 5 receptions for 72 yards and 1 TD

Logan Jaeschke had 5 catches for 38 yards

Drew Temple had 9 carries for 24 yards
