Southeast Valley Football vs Kuemper

The Southeast Valley football faced #1 Carroll Kuemper in class 2A and Kuemper was rated number 1 for a reason. They were a very good football team in all areas and were way too much for the Jags to handle.

The Jags defense started off great and stopped Kuemper on 4th down in the middle of the field. What a way to start stopping an offense averaging 46 points a game and to get the offense the ball. But the Jags fumbled the very first play and gave the ball back.

6 plays later they had a 37 yard TD and went up 7-0

The Jags were still in the game and only down 7 with 7 minutes to go in the 2nd quarter before they struck again

Then the wheels fell off for the Jags as the offense could not move the ball and had 2 more turnovers before half and Kuemper took advantage and took a 28-0 lead into half.

Second half was not much better as the penalties were staking up and mental errors were killing us and we could not stop them and in the 4th they took a 42-0 lead.

Jags fought back to score on their final drive and made the score 42-6

It was a tough game and tough competition but the boys made it too easy for Kuemper by giving them 3 turnovers and 6 penalties and not great blocking or tackling and the special teams were not any better. You just can not win playing like we did and we need to learn from it but move on as we have Okoboji who is 5-0 coming to town next week.

The Jags are now 3-2
