The Southeast Valley football team headed to Spirit Lake after a tough loss last week and were not ready to play in the first half of the game. Coaches were not very happy with the boys' efforts as the boys just let Spirit Lake take it to them in the first half and gave up 39 points by half and offensively could do nothing.  Spirit Lake is a very good team and program but our kids let them look way better than what they are. The boys needed a heart to heart at half and basically were told we are going to see what you guys are made of and see if you are going to fight or just give up. One of the hardest things coaching is when you are getting beat like we were to get them to still play hard for you. This is when you find out who your fighters are and who is going to fold. I will tell you after the game all the coaches were very happy how the boys played in the second half and actually won the second half 20-17 but it was just too late to make any type of comeback, but the boys did not give up and played like we expected them to the whole game. They need to learn from this and work on getting better for this week's game and for the future.
