Varsity Football at Manson Northwest Webster

The football team started their season with a 34-13 victory over Manson Northwest Webster.

The boys have waited a year to get their revenge on Manson after completing a hail mary on the last play of the game so this win really felt great after that heart break last year.

The Jags came out ready to play as it only took 6 plays to score. Drew Temple had a couple quick runs and Mason Bahr hit Logan Jaeschke and Bryce Harrison for a 6 and 8 yarder.

Then Mason Bahr hit Logan Jaeschke for a 48 yard TD and the Jags were up 6-0 right away.

The Jags defense were ready for Mansons Wing T offense and forced them to punt after 4 plays

Mason Bahr came out throwing and hit Harrison for 16 and Jaeschke for 14 and Drew Temple finished the drive with a 1 yard TD run. Spencer Peterson kicked the Extra point and the Jags led 13-0

Defense forces another punt and gets the ball back to the offense.

Jags offense had their first punt and Spencer Peterson changed the side of the field with a nice 46 yard punt.

Both offenses struggled in the 2nd quarter until the Jags final drive before half. Bahr hit Harrison for 15, ran for 7 and then Casey Hanson came in and ran for 6 and threw a 11 yard TD to Logan Jaeschke. Spencer Peterson made the extra point and the Jags led 20-0 at half.

Manson came out the second half ready to play football and took it right at the boys and marched down the field. Manson threw a pass up and Logan Jaeschke had a great interception to stop that drive and momentum.

The Offense went into a slump the entire 3rd quarter as nothing was working.

Manson went right back at it with new plays and went down and scored and just like that it was 20-7

The Jags went back to work but could not complete passes with either over throwing or dropping balls and penalties forced the Jags to punt again.

Manson wasted no time and took 5 straight runs at the Jags and the score was 20-13 and Manson looked like the better team with 7 minutes to go.

The Jags needed something good to happen and on play 2 Casey Hanson hit Bryce Harrison for a 69 yard TD and Spencer Peterson hit the extra point. Jags were ahead 27-13

On the kickoff Spencer was told to kick it straight down the middle and not in the air. It went right into their front middle guy and bounced back the Jags for the recovery.

Jags took advantage of that by giving Drew Temple the ball for some very good runs to move the chains. On 4th and 3 and everyone of Manson players thinking we were going to run, then Casey Hanson hit Logan Jaeschke for a 29 yard TD and Spencer Peterson hit the extra point.

Manson tried one last drive but Collin Johnson had an Interception to seal the game.

Coach was very happy how the line protected the QB's tonight throwing the ball. They never get credit but it all starts the boys upfront and they did a great job tonight. He was also happy with both QB's. Both offer the Jags different packages and we will be using both all year and that really helps that both are ready to go in at any time. As far as the defense they had a great first half and the second half they had something thrown at them and took awhile to adjust and stood their ground when needed and forced turnovers to change the game.

What a great team win and a great way to start the season.
