Southeast Valley 7th Grade Rolls Past East Sac County, 49–21

The Southeast Valley 7th grade boys basketball team continued its strong post‑break play on Friday night, powering to a 49–21 win over East Sac County. The Jaguars came out firing, jumping to a 19–2 lead after the first quarter and stretching the margin to 35–4 by halftime.

The fast start reflected the team’s growing confidence and maturity on both ends of the floor.

“We’ve done a phenomenal job taking care of the basketball since coming back from break,” Coach Steinhoff said. “Earlier in the season we got a little careless at times, but the boys have really improved their understanding of when to attack in transition and when to slow down and run a set. That decision‑making has made a huge difference.”

Defensively, Southeast Valley controlled the game from the opening tip, forcing turnovers, contesting shots, and limiting East Sac County’s scoring opportunities. Offensively, the Jaguars shared the ball well, attacked the rim with purpose, and spread scoring across the roster.

Dawson Greene led the scoring effort with 14, while Cam Johnson (10), Tripp Roper (8), Rocco Jondle (2), Nicco Jondle (13), Braxton Pierce (2), and Gabe Steck (2) all contributed offensively. Cooper Lane, VinJuan Atcitty, Jaxson Halsrud, Jaxyn Milham, Hudson Ulicki and Cam Nelson anchored the defensive intensity and helped maintain the intensity in the second half.

The Jaguars now look ahead to their final game of the season on Thursday against South Central Calhoun. With smarter transition decisions and strong team chemistry, Southeast Valley enters the finale playing some of its best basketball of the year and looks to finish the year undefeated as they currently sit at (9-0).

Southeast Valley 7th Grade Pulls Away from Manson Northwest Webster, 51–15

The Southeast Valley 7th grade boys basketball team added another convincing win to its season total on Monday night, defeating Manson Northwest Webster 51–15 and moving to (10-0) on the season. The Jaguars needed a few minutes to find their rhythm, starting slower than usual in the opening quarter, but once they settled in, the game shifted quickly in their favor.

After a tighter first frame than expected, Southeast Valley responded with one of its strongest stretches of the season. The Jaguars controlled the second and third quarters on both ends of the floor - stringing together defensive stops, pushing the pace in transition, and executing cleanly in the half court. The surge allowed them to build a comfortable lead and put the game out of reach before the fourth quarter began.

Coach Steinhoff noted the team’s ability to adjust and settle in after the early lull.

“We weren’t as sharp as we wanted to be in the first quarter, but once we started taking care of the ball and attacking the hoop with dribble penetration, everything opened up and we were able to knock down some open outside shots. The boys did a great job recognizing when to push and when to slow down and run our sets and get paint touches.”

Southeast Valley’s defense again set the tone, forcing turnovers and limiting Manson Northwest Webster’s scoring opportunities. Offensively, the Jaguars spread the scoring across the roster, attacking the rim, finishing in transition, and finding open looks in the paint through unselfish ball movement.

Cam Johnson led the scoring effort with 15, while Dawson Greene (12), Tripp Roper (2), Rocco Jondle (8), Nicco Jondle (13), and Cooper Lane (1) all contributed offensively. Braxton Pierce, Gabe Steck, VinJuan Atcitty, Jaxson Halsrud, Trayson Gutshall, Jaxyn Milham, Hudson Ulicki, Eli Bird, Roman Pace, and Nikota Lyons anchored the defensive end and helped bring home the victory.

The Jaguars will travel to South Central Calhoun on Thursday to finish out the season.
